JEFA STEERING CELEBRATES 20 YEARS

Product functionality and design are at the heart of Jefa Steering Systems, a company which in 2021 has marked 20 years of the manufacture and supply of steering systems to yards and private customers.
Boat owners need a reliable and durable product that will not let them down and that is what they experience with Jefa Steering Systems according to Stig Jensen founder and director.
“The cost of component parts is a factor; however, it is not the overriding consideration when it comes to a steering system,” comments Stig Jensen. “Our experience has been that yards need a system that is simple and fast for installation. The quicker the system is installed the sooner the boat can be finished and with the customer.”
Jefa Steering makes no claim to be the cheapest to purchase but the ongoing maintenance costs are kept to a minimum due to the durability and ongoing product evolution. This work was recognised in 2014 when the Jefa Steering Traveller System won the prestigious DAME Award. Chairman of the Jury at the time Bill Dixon noted; ‘This product [Jefa Steering Traveller] removes the need for bulky steering quadrants and improves rudder feedback at the helm for twin rudder, twin wheel sailing yachts. Special attention has been paid to save installation space and weight as well as to eliminate backlash, which improves yacht handling.’
Stig Jensen goes onto explain that Jefa Steering work diligently with yards to advance the range and find ways to improve their offering. He gives Hanse Yachts as an example of a loyal customer and a company that has been integral to the development of many of the products within the range available.
